Continued improvement at Great Wyrley Academy
We are delighted to report a fantastic set of results this year for the Year 13 students at
Great Wyrley Academy. This has been achieved despite the uncertain times and unusual
The results are testament to the hard work and dedication shown by our students and staff.
Our students can be proud that they have achieved the best progress scores since the sixth
form opened; demonstrating our commitment to excellence for all students.
This year 69% of all grades were at A* – C and an overall 98% pass rate; an exceptional
achievement and another outstanding improvement since becoming an academy.
Every student who wanted to go to university got a place on a course of their choice
including: Mitchell Chambers who is going to study Maths at the University of Birmingham;
Komal Bal who is going to Aston University to study Law; and Rebecca Higgins who is going
to the University of Birmingham to study Medicine.
Headteacher Ian Moreton said, “We are overjoyed that the A Level and BTEC results reflect
the tremendous efforts of Year 13 students before lockdown began. The continued
improvement of Great Wyrley Academy demonstrates how the school is flourishing since
becoming part of Windsor Academy Trust. The commitment and enthusiasm of our staff and
students has paid dividends. We wish all of our students well as they move on to University
or their new chosen careers.”
